on the property.

Go for a hike through the woods, take a nap in the hammock, enjoy an outdoor fire at the firepit, and sit under the stars.

wander into town.

The High Peaks Hideaway is less than a mile (0.7 miles) from the United States Olympic Training Center, and less than 2 miles from Lisa G’s Restaurant and Bar, Origin Coffee (so good), the Lake Placid Winter Olympic Museum, and Lake Placid’s downtown area. Bookstore Plus is a must for readers!

In neighboring Saranac Lake, we love Campfire Adirondack Grill and Bar (reservations highly recommended), the Book Nook of Saranac Lake (just a few doors down from Origin Coffee SL), and the Saranac Lake Village Farmer’s Market in season (Riverside Park every Saturday from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m., from June to mid-October).

oh, and the most local tip (and so so convenient)…

The Adirondack Corner Store is theeee place to get your freshly made sandwiches, bags of chips, frozen food, cooked food (think chili, mozzarella sticks, wings, tater tots), beer, soda, toilet paper, deodorant, slim jims, the local paper (all the things!), and has the best chicken salad. they have Green Mountain Coffee hot until 9 pm! it’s two turns (and two minutes) from the hideaway. It’s a local tradition and it’s AMAZING! Open daily from 5:30 am - 10 pm. be sure to visit!

* There are two supermarkets that are super close to the Hideaway, Hannaford and Price Chopper. Green Goddess is a small local market that has fresh, natural foods; organic produce, local eggs and a café with sandwich, soup and salad options. Kombucha, too.
